Portland’s First Passive House Completed
Passive Houses represent a novel approach towards energy-efficient, green building. Pioneered in Germany, Passive Houses are designed to slash the heating energy consumption of buildings by as much as 90%. As the name suggests, a Passive House is primarily heated by passive solar gain and by internal gains from people, electrical equipment etc.
According to Wikipedia, estimates on the number of Passive Houses world-wide range from 15,000 to 20,000. Most Passive Houses have been built in German speaking countries and Scandinavia.
Now, Portland’s first ever Passive House is opening its doors to the public on Sunday, 26th of September at 616 NE 61st Ave. Click on the image to the left to find out more and register for this event.
